Tummy Chronicles: Wa’s and Kinjo (Dalhousie)
Overall Restaurant Rating: ★★☆☆☆ /★★★★★
Hmm not too sure about the service, it was kind of here and there. It was sort of uninviting at first to me, like everyone was too busy to even let you know how long of a wait it would be. And don’t get me wrong it was pretty busy but still.. we didn’t wait too long but it felt almost awkward at first, not that the people there aren’t nice, it was just weird. And usually when I step into a smaller restaurant I always say how cute and cosy the atmosphere is, for Wa’s it was just not there, sure it was small but it was just small..lol. However the food is good, I had the most difficult time picking out my lunch that day. What I really liked about Wa’s is the random display of twigs above the booth seating, I kinda dig it. It makes me feel like a ninja, a ninja that should be running on rooftops.
What we had?
Fresh Oysters ★★☆☆☆ /★★★★★ The one with the tomatoes, way too sour, the ones with the green onions, perfect!
Sashimi Lunch (Assorted Sashimi, Steamed Rice, Salad, Miso Soup, Daily Small Dish, and Pickles) ★★★☆☆ /★★★★★ Sashimi was really fresh, Salad was bland, Miso soup was good.
Katsu-don (Breaded Deep Fried Pork with Eggs on Steamed Rice) ★★★☆☆ /★★★★★ Mmm..so yummy, one downside the fatty around the pork.
Black Sesame Ice Cream ★★★★☆ /★★★★★ What have you ever had in your life that was grey and edible? This way super grey , edible and delicious.! I would come back just for the icecream.
Overall Restaurant Rating: ★★★☆☆ /★★★★★
Kinjo to me is like a “safe” meal place, it’s always as you would expect no surprises. When you walk in, it’s spacious yet still very cosy and warm, the booths are my favourite for cuddling up. I’ve probably been to Kinjo a little less than a dozen times but each time it’s super consistent, always good sharing portions and good sushi. My must haves every time are a plate of the Volcano Rolls, and a plate of the Chicken Noodle, and sweet soy sauce instead of the normal stuff.
The people are great, super friendly and if it’s your first time there and Peter is there, you’d get a kick out of it..but after a few times the routine gets a little old but at least if you’re a girl you’re always leaving with some Pocky. And you always get a sampling plate. Yumm!
Prices are determined by plate colour like most “sushi boat” places. There location on Macleod has the whole boat and bar setting but I prefer the Dalhousie location without it.
On our table:Dynamite Roll ★★★☆☆ /★★★★★
Spicy Tuna Roll ★★☆☆☆ /★★★★★
Volcano Roll ★★★☆☆ /★★★★★
Rainbow Roll ★★☆☆☆ /★★★★★
Agedashi Tofu ★★☆☆☆ /★★★★★
Chicken Noodle ★★★☆☆ /★★★★★
Chicken Fried Rice ★★★☆☆ /★★★★★

It
all started with a single red lipstick.
be inspired, find your shade. I have never been one to wear a lot of lipstick, and recently I have been inspired to change up the lips, especially being so close to Valentines, I figure lets push the borders. I'm a "safe" lipstick chooser which means super muted colours. And you know what I'm kind of digging it, for those out of the box days.
So give it a go, try something different. ♥ ohsotedious

Buzzworthy Randoms: Indigo Canvas Book/Journal Slipcover
So I saw this little sucker on a coworkers book today (she had the quill), and thought oh man I can’t believe they actually have book covers, I need me one of those! If you have the slightest knowledge as to who I am, I am uptight with dents, scratches and imperfections on surfaces and it is exceptionally hard when it comes to books because I bring a book almost everywhere I go and it is almost impossible to keep them in somewhat perfect condition, and so to chapters I go..so far they only have two different covers the ABC and the Quill which come in medium and large. And of course it had to be a black quill on white canvas, because that would get totally trashed in a few days, so I settled for the ABC which I am particularly fond of now.
So on the inside of this book cover, to your left you have two card slots, and to your right you have a hidden zipper compartment and a twill ribbon bookmark. (I apologize, super difficult to see it in this snapshot).
What I thought would also be a neat, maybe time consuming, lazy sit in one spot sort of creative project would be personalizing your slipcover which I believe I will have time for soon, I’m hoping not to go overboard by adding too much, where I end up hating it, I just think because it is such a generic design, and only having two designs, personalizing it would just be nice. So lovely’s, I will have that blogged optimistically soon.

Tummy Chronicles: Fiore’s Modern Italian Restaurant
Another lovely weekend lunch with my manfriend, and of course after a long week
of work everyone needs a little something hearty and warm. And what better than
yummy and very affordable pasta topped with tons and tons of parmesan!? So
to make this place even more awesome is where it is located, most places along 17th
have all been pretty fantastic, such as my few favorites Tubby Dog, and The Big Cheese. Those “can
eat only once every 4 months” kind of places because they are so darn good, but
at the same time so bad for you, and seriously if I had just .001 less self
control I would be far obese by now!
Mmmm..Enough of poutine’s and hot dogs back to Fiore’s.So my first impression walking into Fiore’s was more like a pub vibe, as opposed to a more restaurant feel, but none the less that’s what makes it feel super comfortable. What we had on the menu?

Mushroom Caps (Mushroom caps sautéed in garlic butter baked with mozzarella
and parmesan cheese) ★★★☆☆/★★★★★ Cheesy and tasty
Linguini Marinara
(Linguini with baby shrimp and baby clams in a garlic tomato sauce) ★★★☆☆/★★★★★ Only had a bite of my manfriends meal which
was good from what I had, usually I get really anxious ordering any tomatoes
sauce pasta's just because I always find that it is either too sweet or too
sour, but here, it was well balanced.
and the Lunch Special (which comes with soup and changes daily)
The pasta ★★★☆☆/★★★★★ First time having Corn Penne which was
actually pretty tasty, because usually whenever I have “healthy” pastas I
always find that they have a very peculiar texture against my tongue almost
gritty, and I really dislike that.
The soup ★☆☆☆☆/★★★★★ Just ok, nothing special..But then again I
really dislike cooked carrots so all I had was the potato bits.
Cute little spot to stop in for lunch after a nice afternoon walk. Great pasta
menu with a lot of variations, they serve whole wheat and gluten free pastas as
well. I would definitely stop in again to try out some other pasta selections. Great
specials, super affordable, great stomach stuffing lunch.
