Buzzworthy Randoms: Kidrobot Clothing

So difficult to find in Calgary, especially women’s Kidrobot stuff.

This here is the (Red) Kidcalligraphy, my first piece of clothing by Kidrobot and its one size too big but I don’t care because it was on sale for half price and it’s going in the wash a few times. This was our continued journey after our stomachs were stuffed from Fiore’s, got to love little cute shops along 17th, Go Groupseven! Oh I know you are excited to see me in my new hoodie as much as I am to wear it! Woot! ohsotedious is so gangster.  YEA!

Embroidered Kidrobot head on the front left and embroidered Kidrobot calligraphy on the back, top that off with a golden zip. (My fav)

PEACE! ah..haha

Buzzworthy Randoms: Indigo Canvas Book/Journal Slipcover

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXY &..

So I saw this little sucker on a coworkers book today (she had the quill), and thought oh man I can’t believe they actually have book covers, I need me one of those! If you have the slightest knowledge as to who I am, I am uptight with dents, scratches and imperfections on surfaces and it is exceptionally hard when it comes to books because I bring a book almost everywhere I go and it is almost impossible to keep them in somewhat perfect condition, and so to chapters I go..so far they only have two different covers the ABC and the Quill which come in medium and large. And of course it had to be a black quill on white canvas, because that would get totally trashed in a few days, so I settled for the ABC which I am particularly fond of now.

So on the inside of this book cover, to your left you have two card slots, and to your right you have a hidden zipper compartment and a twill ribbon bookmark. (I apologize, super difficult to see it in this snapshot). And the book nestled in between is another Palahniuk novel – Lullaby, which fits in the medium which is 6.”X 8.75” good for most paperbacks but definitely does not fit any of my hard covers, so I’ll take a gander at this one before I purchase a large one.

What I thought would also be a neat, maybe time consuming, lazy sit in one spot sort of creative project would be personalizing your slipcover which I believe I will have time for soon, I’m hoping not to go overboard by adding too much, where I end up hating it, I just think because it is such a generic design, and only having two designs, personalizing it would just be nice. So lovely’s, I will have that blogged optimistically soon.

Tummy Chronicles: Fiore’s Modern Italian Restaurant

Overall Restaurant Rating: ★★★☆☆ /★★★★★
Another lovely weekend lunch with my manfriend, and of course after a long week of work everyone needs a little something hearty and warm. And what better than yummy and very affordable pasta topped with tons and tons of parmesan!? So to make this place even more awesome is where it is located, most places along 17th have all been pretty fantastic, such as my few favorites Tubby Dog, and The Big Cheese. Those “can eat only once every 4 months” kind of places because they are so darn good, but at the same time so bad for you, and seriously if I had just .001 less self control I would be far obese by now!

Mmmm..Enough of poutine’s and hot dogs back to Fiore’s.So my first impression walking into Fiore’s was more like a pub vibe, as opposed to a more restaurant feel, but none the less that’s what makes it feel super comfortable. What we had on the menu?
Mushroom Caps (Mushroom caps sautéed in garlic butter baked with mozzarella and parmesan cheese) ★★★☆☆/★★★★★ Cheesy and tasty
Linguini Marinara (Linguini with baby shrimp and baby clams in a garlic tomato sauce) ★★★☆☆/★★★★★ Only had a bite of my manfriends meal which was good from what I had, usually I get really anxious ordering any tomatoes sauce pasta's just because I always find that it is either too sweet or too sour, but here, it was well balanced.
and the Lunch Special (which comes with soup and changes daily)
The pasta ★★★☆☆/★★★★★ First time having Corn Penne which was actually pretty tasty, because usually whenever I have “healthy” pastas I always find that they have a very peculiar texture against my tongue almost gritty, and I really dislike that.
The soup ★☆☆☆☆/★★★★★ Just ok, nothing special..But then again I really dislike cooked carrots so all I had was the potato bits.
Cute little spot to stop in for lunch after a nice afternoon walk. Great pasta menu with a lot of variations, they serve whole wheat and gluten free pastas as well. I would definitely stop in again to try out some other pasta selections. Great specials, super affordable, great stomach stuffing lunch.

Buzzworthy Randoms: Anna Sui Obsession

This is what happens when you have major obsessive compulsive tendencies! So the first time I laid eyes on this brand was a few years ago on one of my visits to Vancouver and my momma and I were walking through sears and there it was beautiful and shiny. The Beauty Mirror (M) was my first ever Anna Sui product, and I seriously bring it on every trip (not that I go on lots of trips) but it’s perfect and of course I still keep it in the original box it came in because the plastic with the gloss finish is exceedingly scratch-able, that’s probably the biggest downfall and also fingerprints are a big pain.

I was so disappointed because nowhere in Calgary carried the Anna Sui cosmetic line..until just a few months ago I was walking through shoppers and there it was, but only two locations in Calgary carry it. So today I was down in the area and went in and purchased the Anna Sui Mini Rouge Lip Colour (700) and the Beauty Mirror. Plus I got a free little makeup pouch, totally made my day. Rumor has it that Sears actually carries Anna Sui, so let’s see if I can make a few trips soon.

To make this day even better, I was cleaning up my room a few days ago and realized that I bought a jewellery stand that I actually don’t use at all, the (Umbra- Abracadabra Jewellery Stand) and I thought it would be perfect for hanging the Anna Sui lip gloss, and now I am pumped to purchase more lip glosses to fill my stand. So I’ll keep you posted for my hopefully ongoing lip gloss collection.

For the amount of lip gloss that you get it’s definitely overpriced but so cute to resist. I will surely blog about the actual product another day. But just I needed to let everyone on how cute this idea is. It’s like a lip gloss tree.

Reading Corner: Survivor – Chuck Palahniuk

" You realize that our mistrust of the future makes it hard to give up the past. We can't give up the concept of who we were. All those adults playing archaeologist at yard sales, looking for childhood artifacts, board games, CandyLand, Twister, they're terrified. Trash becomes holy relics. Mystery Date. Hula Hoops. Our way of getting nostalgic for what we just threw in the trash, it's all because we're afraid to evolve. Grow, change, lose weight, reinvent ourselves. Adapt."

Finished this bad boy last week sometime last week. My loving boyfriend bought me some awesome reading material over the holidays.

So let’s talk about survivor. Let’s break it down, a book about a guy named Tender Branson who is on his own on an airplane that is on autopilot that is about to crash, but not before unravelling a whirlwind of a story about his life, growing up in a Creedish Death Cult, and being the last survivor.

It's so intriguing because it’s so random and Tender Branson is such a character, he is apparently ugly and dirty looking, he also cleans for a living, studies fake flowers at mausoleums and he answers his phone pretending to be some sort of distress helpline.

The cover to this novel is awesome you can tear it off and fold it into a paper airplane, how ingenious is that? And what else is neat is the pages countdown, tying in chapter 47 to chapter 1. Mm hmm I always enjoy cuddling up to one of Palahniuk’s books.

Tummy Chronicles: Africana Eatery & Cheers Pub

Overall Restaurant Rating: ★★☆☆☆ /★★★★★

Perfect lunch for two starving little piggy’s on a Sunday afternoon. Feeling like hearty and filling yum yums? Curry is perfect for filling you up for pretty much the whole day. So I guess this place doesn’t see many people on a Sunday afternoon because we were the only ones there, and well.. actually one more person. There’s quite a selection on the menu which is pretty impressive. So let’s see, we ordered the Mix Thali on the Specialties part of the menu, which included : 1 Beef curry, 1 Chicken curry, 2 Veggie curries, BBQ chicken served with Bhajia, a Samosa, Rice, Roti, Raita, Pickle and Gulab Jaman. And a full portion of the butter chicken, because I am a little oinker! That is actually a fair bit for two people! And I should mention really reasonable!

So let’s see this was our Mix Thali

Curries from left to right: Butter Chicken, Beef Karai Masala (I think?), Palak (Spinach), and Aloo Gobi (Cauliflower and Potatoes).

That whole platter for $21.99.  Yup, no joke

How did everything taste?
Beef Curry (Karai Masala?) ★★☆☆☆/★★★★★
Butter Chicken ★★★☆☆/★★★★★
Palak ★☆☆☆☆/★★★★ Way too watery, for what I was expecting
Aloo Gobi ★★★☆☆/★★★★★
BBQ Chicken ★★☆☆☆/★★★★★ A tad burnt in places
Bhajia (Deep-fried Battered Potatoe) ★★★☆☆/★★★★★
Samosa (Veggie) ★☆☆☆☆/★★★★★ Too much bean or chickpea paste? And a tad too spicy for me
Garlic Naan (Instead of tradition Roti) ★★★☆☆/★★★★★★
Raita (Yogurt dipping sauce) ★☆☆☆☆/★★★★★
Pickle and Gulab Jaman ☆☆☆☆☆ /★★★★★ I really dislike this dessert in general. Not my style..way too sweet and mushy.

On the outside it looks like its part of an industrial strip mall, and on the inside it seems a little sketchy maybe because it is also connected to a pub, but it’s still pretty comfortable, we were seated in a little booth across a painting that reminded me of the Lion King! Oh yes if you ever get seated there you would definitely know what I’m talking about..It’s the Tree of Life! Unless you haven’t seen the Lion King, then well it just looks like any beginning of the survivor TV shows. And if you haven’t seen a glimpse of any of those, then well..umm, watch more TV. Haha

Hair & Makeup: Mermaid Hair

So what you’ll need are some bobby pins, a bottle of Orofluido (Moroccan Oil, Argon Oil, Skinny Serum, Ect.)

And of course this little bugger here:
This here is the Hot Tools Ceramic Tourmaline Deep Waver (Model: 2179)

But don’t freight if you don’t want to go spend $60 on a Deep Waver, you can also braid your hair then use your handy Flat Iron.

Just section your hair off into about say 3 horizontal planes of your head, subdivide those sections in small vertical sections, depending on how tight you want your waves, section accordingly, (Narrower/ thinner sections create more tight waves, and wider/ thicker sections
create looser waves) But back to braiding, do the braid, once you finish run your flat iron along the braid, or press it along the braid, the heat will create the braids indentations and thus lovely waves, and if you don’t own a flatiron just braid it the night before and let it set.Once you have all your sections braided or deep waved run some Orofluido through all the sections for more definition. Take a section on either side of your hairline and pin.

And viola..

Confessions of My Heart: Relationships

Most girls turn themselves inside out for love, and when that doesn’t work out we tell ourselves we come first and we should love ourselves more. And I am totally that girl, the girl who would put the man before herself, and recently I have been asking myself..why the hell would I do that?

The one thing I think is necessary, is to be happy with yourself before you even think of bringing someone in your life. For many years I have relied on others to love me, and the truth is I never thought that first of all I need to take care of number one, my happiness comes first. And let’s be honest, most girls are people pleasers and we give way too much of ourselves. And yes, like any other couple, any other relationship, mine has a lot of issues, unsolved problems, lack of communication, and well the whole works.

And recently I have just been really unhappy with not being able to communicate, so really, I have just started to really look at myself in my relationship. I am that girlfriend that apologizes way too much, the one that calls first, the one who really needs her man to call her and reassure her all the time. And that is definitely not a healthy relationship. If you find yourself stuck in something where you are putting way too much effort and time in as opposed to your partner, lover, whomever, then you probably are. It’s hard, it really is. Honestly if you are that girl who will be willing to spend every moment with your man then you will know what I am talking about, you’re nuts about him, like you get mad when he has
too much alone time, you need him all the time, you need reassurance that he loves you, you’re scared that he’s cheating, or whatever it may be. One: Maybe you should rethink the relationship. Two: That is NOT healthy. We all have doubts but if you can’t trust your man, you shouldn’t be with him. And if you’re scared to tell him how you feel because you think he will be upset at you. Who cares if he gets upset, that’s how you feel..and he needs to understand that, it’s better that you are letting him know how you feel instead of keeping it in and getting mad at him anyways. I mean think about it, most girls when they are mad and can’t talk about it will take it out on thier man anyways and then your man is like “what the f.? Why are you mad at me for no reason all the time?” I mean girl, if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. (listen to The Script) haha.

Don’t get me wrong we need to pick and choose our battles and little things we should probably let slide, no man wants you nagging at him all the time, but if it really bothers you, your man should be there to listen. Boys have a hard time communicating and we can’t push them, which I have recently have just come to terms with..when they are ready they will let you know. Some guys choose to sweep things under the rug, and that’s not good either. It just makes you more upset and thus “what the f..why are you always mad at me for no reason?” No big dummy! Girls just like things to be resolved. We vent, boys cope. Either in drinking, or taking anger out on various objects, or playing video games. Stop pushing your man to talk to you when he’s mad. It usually just gets worse, let him be, likewise on the whole needing him way too much business. If he doesn’t put effort in, then you shouldn’t either, if he is smart he will get it that you are giving him space, and he should smart enough to try harder to make time for you, and if he’s not, well then obviously he just really likes a lot of space or he really isn’t into putting any effort in and expecting you to do all the work. That is a no-no. Like people always say “If you love something let it go, if it’s yours then it’ll come back” or some nonsense like that which is partly true. If a man wants you, wants to be with you, but he says oh sorry I have no time, I have school, work, the gym, or whatever his life may consist of. That is bs.. When a man pursues you he makes time for you even when he doesn’t have it, so why should that change just because you two are going steady? It's not about having time, it's about making time. There’s a big difference! And don’t make excuses for him. I did that, all the time. One tiny phone call seriously takes 60 seconds. And if that can’t happen, then where is the love girl?

I think the main thing I want to put out there is don’t ever sell yourself short. I’ve done that so many times in life, and where it leaves you is crying a pond or a friggen ocean on your pillow case. Be strong, and stand your ground. You deserve someone who will put in as much effort that you are willing to. It takes two.

I was in chapters the other day and say that book (Why Men Love Bitches) I skimmed through it, and from what I saw, I agree to a few things and some other things were like wow, you actually have to be a bitch to ever do that to a man, I guess in my little hearts of hearts I am still sort of a doormat..

If you’re the "nice" girl, just remember you don’t have to change and be bitchier or be more the “chase”, you just have to remember your happiness means the most, and if you are not happy revaluate yourself first then the relationship.

Relationships are never easy..
I say, build a life that you want, have goals, aspirations, better yourself and if your man fits in then great..if he slowly fades away, then let it be.

Easier said than done, I know.
